Report. Israel agrees to cease targeted killings of Palestinian militants except in cases of concrete threat

The Saudi Al Arabiya Al Hadath news channel reported that Israel notified Egypt that it will end targeted killings unless in the case of a concrete threat and that it would hand over the body of Islamic Jihad member Khader Adnan next week to the Palestinian Authority regardless of a ceasefire. Israel denies that it agreed to return the body as part of the ceasefire agreements – as sources say it was planning to return the body next week regardless.

Adnan died after a hunger strike in Israeli prison last week and Islamic Jihad reportedly set it as a condition for a ceasefire during negotiations.

On Tuesday, the Israeli army launched “Operation Shield and Arrow” in the Gaza Strip by killing three senior members of Islamic Jihad in an airstrike.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, 25 people have been killed and 76 wounded. In response, Islamic Jihad has fired over 500 rockets towards Israel. No direct casualties from rocket fire have been reported in Israel, but hospitals have been treating people for anxiety and light injuries as a result of running to shelters.
