Govt to open avenues for private players in nuclear sector through Shanti Act: Union Minister Jitendra Singh.

The Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh, today highlighted the government’s commitment to creating a self-reliant Research and Development ecosystem in the country.

Addressing the gathering, after inaugurating a series of advanced facilities at the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, Dr. Singh emphasized that the government is actively fostering private sector participation in high-tech domains through strategic policy reforms.

He announced that through Shanti act, the government will soon open up advanced areas like the nuclear sector for private players. 

The Minister lauded that under the National Quantum Mission, India has achieved a historic milestone by, successfully completing a one-thousand-kilometer quantum secure communication system. He further stressed that the National AI Mission has seen substantial expansion in computing, future skills, and specialized innovation hubs following the global AI Impact Summit. 

Dr. Singh urged academic institutions to forge early industry linkages rather than relying solely on traditional government funding, calling upon the younger generation to leverage tools like AI to advance the nation’s scientific landscape.

During the visit, the Minister launched three interdisciplinary research clusters and inaugurated Central Instrumentation Facility (CIF), the Centre of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence and the Innovation Centre. These initiatives are expected to strengthen research infrastructure and promote innovation-driven growth in the country.
