In Keralam, the 172nd birth anniversary of social reformer Sree Narayana Guru will be observed today. Various programmes are being organised across the State from this morning.
Elaborate programmes have been organised at Chempazhanthy, the birthplace of Sree Narayana Guru. Programmes will also be held at Sivagiri, where the Guru attained Samadhi.
At Sivagiri, Speaker Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will inaugurate the Jayanti conference this morning. The Jayanti procession will begin at 5 p.m.
At Chempazhanthy, Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan will inaugurate the Jayanti conference at 6:30 p.m. A Chathaya Day feast will be held at the Aruvippuram Temple at noon. Jayanti processions will also be organised across the State this evening.
