German Chancellor arrives in Bengaluru. Karnataka Minister M B Patil receives him.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz arrived in Bengaluru today. Large and Medium Industries Minister of Karnataka M B Patil received him at the airport along with senior officials.

During his visit to the IT city, Mr. Merz is scheduled to visit the India headquarters of German tech major Bosch. He is also visiting the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science before emplaning from Bengaluru.

In a social media post, Minister MB Patil has said that the visit of Chancellor Merz to Bengaluru will further strengthen relations with Germany and advance the shared vision for growth, innovation and collaboration.

“He was received at the Kempegowda International Airport by Karnataka Minister for Large & Medium Industries M.B. Patil and senior government officials,” official sources said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday (January 12, 2026) announced that India and Germany had decided to transform their economic partnership into a “limitless” collaboration, extending deeper cooperation into strategic sectors.
