In Uttar Pradesh, festivities of Ganesh Utsav will start today across the state. Women will also celebrate Kajari Teej.
Ganesh Chaturthi has started in the state with small and large pandals being decorated at several places. A grand Ganesh Utsav is set to commence at Lucknow’s Jhulelal Vatika on the banks of the Gomti.
The pandal of the Utsav has been constructed by artisans from Kolkata. Modelled after the Swaminarayan temple in New Jersey, USA, an air-conditioned, waterproof hall spanning approximately 13,000 square feet-with a seating area of 6,000 square feet-has been constructed where devotees can sit and write letters to Gajanan.
Meanwhile, the Kajari Teej festival is being celebrated today in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. On this day, married women will worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and observe a fast without water.
On this occasion, a large number of devotees from neighbouring districts as well as from Nepal will perform Jalabhishek at the renowned Vibhuti Nath Temple in Shravasti district.
Devotees of Lord Shiva have already begun their journey to the temple on foot, carrying water collected from holy rivers.
