Punjab Police Counter Intelligence Wing apprehends 686 terrorists, busts 92 terror modules in 4 years.

The Counter Intelligence wing of Punjab Police has apprehended 686 terrorists by busting 92 terror modules during action against them in the last four years, from March 16, 2022, to September 11, 2026.

At the same time, the wing has averted major terror attacks by pre-emptively neutralising as many as 53 terror modules during this time period.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav, while addressing a press conference in Chandigarh today, said that a large number of arms, including AK-47s and other lethal rifles, revolvers, and IEDs, have been recovered.

He said over 28 kg of RDX and other explosives and 131 hand grenades with 6 Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPGs) launchers have also been seized.

The State Police Chief said that 43 terror attacks were reported in Punjab, including at various police stations, since September 2024, and claimed that all the cases have been solved in record time to date.

He said that under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ anti-drugs campaign, about 80,000 drug smugglers have been arrested and large quantities of narcotics, including over 3800-kilogram Heroin has been confiscated.

He said Punjab accounts for approximately 60% of India’s total heroin recovery in the country.
