West Bengal Government has made the use of the Government e-Marketplace, or GeM, mandatory for the procurement of goods and services.
The Finance Department said that all departments, subordinate offices and organisations under the administrative control of the state government must procure goods and services only through the platform.
The move is aimed at ensuring greater transparency, efficiency and cost savings in government procurement.
All departments and organisations have been directed to immediately begin the process of onboarding onto GeM.
