Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated, laid the foundation stone and dedicated to the nation over 7,000 crore rupees developmental projects on Friday at Arambagh of Hooghly district of West Bengal. The projects related to port, rail, crude oil and waste water treatment. In the programme, Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Mr Shantunu Thakur welcomed the Prime Minister. Governor Dr C V Ananda Bose, leader of opposition in state assembly Suvendu Adhikari, MP and BJP state president Dr Sukanto Majumdar and MP Saumitra Khan were present on the stage.
Prime Minister said these projects will take West Bengal as well as India to the path of prosperity. PM added that India will become a developed country by 2047 when the nation will celebrate 100 years of independence. He said his government is dedicated to the welfare of poor, young generation, women and the farmers of India.
PM said that the LPG bottling plant at Kharagpur of Paschim Medinipur district will cater to the need of 7 districts of West Bengal. He added that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee port in Kolkata and three projects related to it will cater to the need of the nation.
Mr. Modi dedicated to the nation railway projects which include third rail line connecting Jhargram – Salgajhari (90 Kms); doubling of Sondalia – Champapukur rail line (24 Kms); and doubling of Dankuni – Bhattanagar – Baltikuri rail line (9 Kms). These projects will expand the rail transport facilities in the region, improve mobility and facilitate seamless service of freight traffic leading to economic and industrial growth in the region.
Three projects related to wastewater treatment and sewerage inaugurated by him. They include Interception and Diversion (I&D) works and Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) at Howrah with a capacity of 65 MLD (million litre per day) and a sewage network of 3.3 km; I&D works and STPs at Bally with capacity of 62 MLD and a sewage network of 11.3 km, and I&D works and STPs at Kamarhati & Baranagar with a capacity of 60 MLD and a sewage network of 8.15 Km. The project cost has been funded by World Bank. The pollution of Hooghly river will also be mitigated by this. PM said that the waste water treatment projects will help the people of Kamarhati and Baranagar area of North 24 Parganas district to live a better life. Prime Minister told that in the last 10 years, 25 crore people have risen from the grasp of poverty.
Prime Minister had addressed a public meeting at Arambagh after this. He had attacked and criticised the state government of West Bengal for not arresting Sheikh Shahjahan of Sandeshkhali for nearly 2 months. He told the state government has bowed its head before the protest of women of Sandeshkhali and at last arrested Sheikh Shahjahan on Wednesday. PM criticised TMC government over corruption in teachers recruitment, municipal recruitment and many other recruitments in the state.
He told TMC government is against the poor, SC and ST people of the state. PM added that State government is not implementing Auyshman Bharat scheme and not giving the benefits of PM Kishan Samman Nidhi scheme. Mr. Modi stated that 42,000 crore rupees has been sanctioned for Awas Yojana for 45 lakh people in West Bengal. But because of the corruption of Trinamool Congress government common people are not getting their own home. He added that the state government is very slow in implementation of the Har Ghar Jal Yojana in the state. He expressed confidence that the Minority Muslim brothers and sisters will also reject the TMC government. He gave the slogan ‘isbar 400 par’.
Mr. Modi informed the people in the public meeting that the state government has stalled Jharia – Raniganj Coal Mining project for the last six years. Also Jagadishpur – Bokara – Haldia – Dhamra pipeline project worth over 18 thousand crore has been stalled by the TMC government for the last four years.
After the public meeting, Prime Minister flew to Kolkata by IAF helicopter. He will stay at Raj Bhavan today. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to meet the PM at around 5:35 pm in the evening at the Raj Bhavan.
Modi will travel to Krishnanagar of Nadia district of West Bengal and will dedicate, lay foundation stone and dedicate to the nation over 15,000 crore rupees developmental projects to the nation.
