Nagaland is joining the rest of the country in observing the 9th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2026 with the theme “Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Jimmedari” (Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility).
The month-long campaign is being observed throughout September across Nagaland, with the State Department of Social Welfare coordinating activities in convergence with the Departments of Health & Family Welfare, School Education, Agriculture, Horticulture, NSRLM-RD and AYUSH, besides local administration and community institutions.
The State campaign will focus on five key priorities: dietary diversity and adequate protein; provision of fresh, hot-cooked meals at Anganwadi Centres; community ownership and accountability; early childhood nutrition and stimulation; and the 10-year milestone of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY).
As part of the campaign, various activities are being organised to promote locally available nutritious foods, including healthy recipe demonstrations, Poshan Melas, protein-rich food campaigns, weekly menu rotation, and demonstrations.
A major focus will also be placed on the first 1,000 days of a child’s life, highlighting the importance of early stimulation, responsive caregiving and Early Childhood Care and Education.
The campaign will promote the use of the revised Home Visit Scheduler and age-appropriate learning through Navchetna and Aadharshila.
The State will also undertake awareness and enrolment drives to identify eligible beneficiaries and facilitate registration, verification and Direct Benefit Transfers under relevant schemes.
