Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today called on Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi and discussed key road infrastructure projects in the state.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister briefed the Union Minister on efforts to resolve long-pending issues related to the Imphal-Jiribam and Imphal-Dimapur highways. A statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office said, Mr Singh also sought early approval for the proposed Elevated Highway Project, to which Mr. Gadkari responded positively.
Mr. Singh informed the Union Minister that land compensation for National Highway-37 in Noney district has been approved by the State Cabinet and work has commenced. He also said issues related to the Imphal-Dimapur Highway in Kangpokpi district have been resolved, with a special package approved by the State Cabinet.
The Chief Minister added that discussions are underway with stakeholders to address pending land issues along the Imphal-Ukhrul-Jessami Highway.
