The average usable water storage across Maharashtra’s large, medium and small dams stands at 22.73 per cent as of this morning, significantly lower than the 42.16 per cent recorded on the corresponding day last year.
Among the state’s revenue divisions, Amravati has the highest usable water storage at 38.11 per cent, followed by Nagpur at 30.57 per cent, Konkan at 27.72 per cent.
Nashik is at 24.84 per cent and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar at 24.52 per cent. The Pune division has the lowest storage level, with reservoirs currently at 13.46 per cent of their usable capacity.
According to data from the Water Resources Department, reservoir levels have fallen below last year’s corresponding figures, raising concerns over water availability in several regions.
