BJP alleges recent incidents of attacks in West Bengal is a pre-planned conspiracy

BJP has alleged that the recent incidents of attacks in West Bengal and the protest by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee are the clear display of the appeasement politics being carried out in the State. Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, BJP MP Locket Chatterjee said, this pre-planned conspiracy ushering in violence and pain is very unfortunate.

Meanwhile, several local and express trains were suspended after incidents of stone pelting were reported from West Bengal’s Rishra on Monday evening. The development comes amid ongoing tensions due to the recent Ram Navami clashes in Hooghly and Howrah. Similar incidents were reported in Bihar’s Nalanda and Sasaram as well, in which nearly 140 people have been arrested, police said on Monday.

The barring of the BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar from visiting Rishra elicited a strong response from the saffron party, which demanded immediate deployment of central forces in the area.

The districts of Hooghly and Howrah near Kolkata have been on the boil after communal clashes broke out during Ram Navami rallies.

Several vehicles were set on fire on Thursday after two groups clashed in Howrah. Public property was vandalised and police had to use tear gas shells to bring the situation under control.

A fresh round of violence erupted in Hooghly Sunday. Among those injured was BJP MLA Biman Ghosh.

The violent clashes prompted the Trinamool Congress government to suspend Internet services and put prohibitory orders in place.

The violent clashes have sparked a political slugfest between the ruling Trinamool and the BJP.

Accusing the BJP of engineering the communal violence in Howrah, Trinamool’s general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has released a video from a religious procession in which a young man was seen holding a firearm.
