Telangana’s rural roads sector is set for a new chapter, with Mulugu district hosting the launch of a massive road development programme.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will unveil a commemorative pylon at the Mulugu district centre on the 16th, marking the start of this ambitious plan.
The programme involves developing 2,145 roads covering 7,448 kilometres, at an estimated cost of Rs.16,007 crore. The goal is to provide seamless connectivity from villages to mandal centres and from mandal centres to major highways.
Under this plan, every village will be linked to its mandal centre with a two-lane road, mandal centres to district centres with a four-lane road, and district centres to the state capital with a six-lane road.
The roads will be built under the hybrid annuity model, with the government and construction companies sharing costs.
Notably, construction companies will also handle maintenance for 15 years after completion, ensuring quality and durability.
Better roads will directly benefit rural life – helping farmers transport crops to markets, students reach schools easily, patients get faster medical care, and expanding employment opportunities.
This is especially significant for tribal and forest-dominated areas like Mulugu. The initiative falls under the department led by Minister Seethakka, who represents the Mulugu constituency.
