Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal has said today that technology has emerged as a significant enabler for digitally empowering society, and the country is advancing with a citizen-centric, technology-driven modern legal system.
He was inaugurating the Arbitration Centre at the Kerala High Court this evening. Noting that the pendency of cases is a huge challenge, the Minister said that the government has been constantly endeavouring to provide an ecosystem for the faster and more efficient disposal of cases by the judiciary.
He observed that arbitration, mediation, and conciliation have become better substitutes for conventional dispute resolution methods. He added that over 1,562 laws have been eliminated in order to ensure that citizens are not trapped in the web of legal complexities.
The Minister also mentioned that over 1,562 outdated laws have been repealed to simplify the legal system, ensuring that citizens are not entangled in unnecessary legal complexities.
