Amit Shah says peaceful and prosperous Assam is required for progress of all remaining states of North East.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that a peaceful Assam is required for a peaceful North East. He said that peaceful and prosperous Assam is required for the progress of all the remaining states of the region.

Addressing the conference of Superintendents of Police (SPs) at Dergaon in Assam, Union Home Minister said, tremendous progress has been made by Assam and North East due to improved law and order situation. HM Shah asked Assam Police to initiative more people-friendly measures.

He emphasized that as the law and order situation has improved in the state, police now emphasized on citizen-centric measures.  
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla along with SPs from across the state, and other senior cops have attended the inaugural session of the 2-day conference. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sarma said, Assam police adopted a zero tolerance policy against militancy and crime against women. He also emphasized working on cracking the cyber-related crimes. HM Shah also inaugurated the convention center where the conference is being held.
