Rajasthan political crisis: Sachin Pilot in talks with BJP, media reports

IN GOOD TIMES: Ashok Gehlot (left) with Sachin Pilot

The media on Saturday reported that Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot is in talks with the BJP, thus putting the Congress government in the state in deep crisis. This comes just three months after the party lost Jyotiraditya Scindia and Madhya Pradesh to the BJP after a long-drawn tussle between the old guard and the new.

The media citing information from their sources said that Sachin Pilot, who shares an uneasy equation with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, has claimed that he has the support of 16 MLAs and three independents.

However it is still not clear if the BJP is offering Pilot the Chief Minister’s post even as a section of leaders told the media that he might float a regional party.

Sources told the media that Pilot was deeply upset over summons for questioning by his party’s special operations group over allegations that he was trying to destabilize the state government.

Pilot currently is now in Delhi supposedly with some of his loyalist MLAs, talking to the party high command.
