Country’s Global Steel Production Capacity Reached Nearly 2.5 Billion Tonnes. Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma.

Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries and Steel, Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma has said that the country’s global steel production capacity has reached nearly 2.5 billion tonnes. Inaugurating the International Exhibition and Conference on Minerals, Metals, Metallurgy and Materials in New Delhi yesterday,

Mr Varma lauded the technological Innovations and material efficiency in the steel sector. He added that these advancements have driven the global steel production close to 2 billion tonnes, up from a few kilograms in earlier era.

He noted that India is currently the second largest producer of Steel with a capacity of 178 million tonnes and a production of 144 million tonnes in the financial year 2024.

The 14th edition of the International Exhibition and Conference on Minerals, Metals, Metallurgy & Materials, being held at the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC) Yashobhoomi, will conclude tomorrow.
