After making her mark in wrestling, Ritu embraced a new chapter in MMA. In the episode, she explains that the opportunity to learn disciplines such as jiu-jitsu and kickboxing and constantly challenge herself made the transition a natural next step in her career. “I switched from wrestling to MMA because I wanted to become the first MMA world champion. I found it exciting because it gave me the opportunity to learn new skills and challenge myself,” said Ritu Phogat.
Ritu also shares more personal stories about her life beyond competition, including the people and experiences that continue to motivate her. “Champions have a responsibility beyond just winning. There are many things that happen in life — I am a mother, a wife, a sister and a daughter as well. When you have a goal, it gives you motivation, and that helps you continue moving forward,” explained Ritu Phogat.
Ritu reflects on the difficult moments behind every achievement, including losses and setbacks, “There have been times when you work very hard but still lose, and that is one of the most difficult moments for any athlete. But those moments teach you the most. My father and my elder sisters motivate me to work harder and come back stronger,” she added.
