In Bangladesh, the High Commission of India celebrated National Youth Day at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre in Dhaka. The High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Pranay Verma inaugurated the event.
Speaking on the occasion Pranay Verma said Swami Vivekananda, a spiritual genius and a stalwart of humanity, believed that the essence of youth lay in its potential to shape a brighter tomorrow. He said Vivekananda’s teachings emphasize the importance of self-confidence, selfless service, and the pursuit of knowledge as vital elements in an individual’s journey towards personal and societal transformation.
The High Commissioner said Bangladesh and India share a unique bond, steeped in historical, geographical, cultural, and linguistic affinities. The people-to-people exchanges between the two nations have always been the foundation of India-Bangladesh relations. “As custodians of our future relationship, youth are an important stakeholder in our partnership”, he added.
The High Commissioner highlighted the youth-centric initiatives of India for the Bangladeshi Youth including nearly 1000 ICCR scholarships, Bangladesh Youth Delegation Program and an India-Bangladesh Start Up Bridge.
The other speakers also highlighted the role of Swami Vivekananda in the enlightenment of youth towards nationalism and national integration in their speeches.On the occasion, artists from the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre gave performances of Ravindra Sangeet on the message of Vivekananda to the youth.
