Uttarakhand. Badrinath Temple to close for winter season today.

The world-famous sacred Shri Badrinath Temple, located in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, will ceremoniously close its portal for the winter season tonight at 9:07 PM. The event will be marked by the melodious devotional tunes by the Indian Army band. With this, the annual Char Dham Yatra for the year will officially conclude today.

Ahead of the closure, the temple has been adorned with 15 quintals of flowers, enhancing its divine beauty. Thousands of devotees have gathered to witness this auspicious occasion. This year, over 14.25 lakh pilgrims visited Badrinath, setting a remarkable milestone.

Dr. Harish Gaur, the media coordinator for the Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC), informed that after the temple’s gates are closed, the idols of Shri Uddhavji, Shri Kuberji, and Rawalji, along with the sacred seat of Adi Guru Shankaracharya, will be moved to Yog Badri, Pandukeshwar, tomorrow morning. Winter worship will subsequently commence at Yog Badri and the Narsingh Temple in Joshimath.

The Char Dham Yatra, which began on May 10 with the opening of the gates of Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri, saw an unprecedented 45.5 lakh pilgrims undertaking the sacred journey this year. The Portals of Kedarnath and Yamunotri were closed on Bhai Dooj, while Gangotri’s gates were shut during the Annakut festival.
