In Ladakh, Kargil War Memorial at Drass is fully prepared to host the grand celebrations of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, commemorating India’s victory in Operation Vijay.
The two-day commemorative events will begin today with a series of programmes honouring the courage and supreme sacrifice of the soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.
Today’s schedule includes Yudh Sansmaran at Lamochen View Point, Gauravmay Sanskriti at Vishwanathan Stadium, Vijay Bhoj, and the Shaurya Sandhya ceremony at the Kargil War Memorial, bringing together veterans, next of kin of martyrs, senior Army officers and dignitaries.
Tomorrow, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will be the Chief Guest at the Shradhanjali Samaroh. He will pay floral tributes at the Cenotaph, inaugurate the Virtual Walkthrough Portal, address the gathering, interact with Veer Naris and Veer Matas, and flag off the Shaurya Vijay Yatra motorcycle rally.
The programme will also include a media visit to Sando Top and an Operational Capability Demonstration by the Indian Army at Matayen.
The Kargil War Memorial has been tastefully decorated ahead of the occasion, reflecting the nation’s gratitude to the brave soldiers whose courage and sacrifice safeguarded the country’s sovereignty.
Thousands of visitors, veterans, family members of the bravehearts and military personnel are expected to participate in the commemorative events.
The celebrations stand as a tribute to the unmatched valour, courage and supreme sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces during the 1999 Kargil War.
