Former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe shot during speech; shooter detained

Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot at while he was delivering a speech in the western city of Nara this morning.

Mr. Abe collapsed on the street after he was shot at while making a speech for a Liberal Democratic Party candidate’s election campaign around 8 this morning Indian time.

Liberal Democratic Party sources close to Abe said he was shot in the chest and was taken to hospital. Police say, they have captured a man and are questioning him.
