At least one dead as tornado rips through New Orleans and suburbs

At least one person was killed and multiple other people injured when a devastating tornado ripped through parts of New Orleans of the United States and its suburbs last night.

Parts of St. Bernard Parish, which borders New Orleans to the southeast was mostly affected.

Rescue work are are still going on. St. Bernard Parish President, Guy McInnis said the tornado caused widespread damage throughout the parish.

Video taken by a local television station showed a large black funnel visible in the darkened sky looming among the buildings in the eastern part of the city.
