19 Bangladeshi fishermen rescued by the India Coast Guard

Indian Coast Guard rescued 19 Bangladeshi fishermen stranded in the Bay of Bengal due to a mechanical snag in their boat on Tuesday after the boat drifted for 10 days in the area.

The Bangladesh fishing boat ‘Rana’ was adrift at sea due to mechanical breakdown. It was towed away by the Indian Coast Guard ship Varad South East of the Paradip port. The Indian Coast Guard said that the Bangladeshi fishermen were rescued in a sea and air coordinated operation and they were provided with first aid and food and water.

The fishermen had started from Cox’s Bazar on November 15.
