J&K. Landslide in Ramban closes Jammu-Srinagar NH amid heavy rainfall.

In Jammu and Kashmir, due to heavy rainfall last evening, a landslide occurred in the Mehad area in the Ramban district, causing the closure of the 270-kilometer-long strategic Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44).

Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the National Highway was closed late last evening, and continuous rain has hampered restoration efforts, making it difficult for authorities to clear the road.

The Traffic Police Department of Ramban has advised all commuters to avoid travelling on the National Highway until the weather improves and the road is made safe for passage.

The region is experiencing severe weather conditions, with Banihal receiving fresh snowfall. The minimum temperature in the area dropped to 3°C, while the maximum is expected to reach 15°C. Meanwhile, Bhaderwah is witnessing rainfall, with low-hanging clouds covering the city. The landscapes of Doda have transformed into a scenic sight, with snow-covered mountains adding to the winter charm.
