In Jammu and Kashmir, in a major success for security forces, a terrorist hideout was busted in the Sawjian forest area of Poonch district during a search operation conducted late Tuesday night, leading to the recovery of a large cache of ammunition.
A Joint SOG-led operation in Sawjian forest resulted in seizure of 246 live rounds of Pika machine gun.
Acting on a specific intelligence inputs, a joint team of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu & Kashmir Police and other security forces launched a search operation in the dense forests of Sawjian.
The recovered ammunition was seized, while the hideout was destroyed on the spot.
Security agencies believe the ammunition cache was meant for use by terrorists operating in the region. Meanwhile, search and surveillance operations have been intensified in the area, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the origin and intended use of the recovered ammunition.
