A passenger train was set on fire and another was attacked with stones in Bihar in violent protests by students against a railway jobs exam on a day the country celebrated Republic Day.
Meanwhile Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday appealed to the students protesting against the alleged irregularities in Railway Recruitment Board’s Non-Technical Popular Categories (RRB-NTPC) exam 2021 not to take the law into their hands and assured them that a committee will address their issues. He further said candidates can submit their grievances by February 16 and the committee will submit a report on March 4 to the ministry.
Addressing a presser on the matter, he said, “I want to request my student friends that railways is your property. You are the future, and you should preserve your property. I request students not to take the law into their hands. We will seriously address the grievances and concerns raised by them. All RRB chairmen have been asked to listen to the concerns of students, compile them and send them to the committee. An email address has been set up for this purpose. The committee will go to different parts of the country and listen to grievances.”
