Odisha is likely to witness an intense spell of rain from Tuesday, under the influence of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) says the system is likely to intensify into a depression tomorrow and further into a deep depression on Tuesday, moving towards the south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coast.
Very heavy rainfall is predicted on Tuesday and extremely heavy rainfall on Wednesday and Thursday, particularly over southern and interior districts.
Orange and yellow warnings have been issued for several districts like Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam for heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds.
The system is being closely monitored for further intensification.
