Met Dept issues Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall at isolated places in five districts of Himachal Pradesh.

Monsoon activity continues to remain active across several parts of Himachal Pradesh, with persistent rainfall affecting many areas. The Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert for heavy rainfall at isolated places today in five districts-Kangra, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur.

In view of the weather warning, all educational institutions in Sirmaur and Solan districts have been closed for the day. Akashvani’s correspondent reports that the southwest monsoon continues to remain active in Himachal Pradesh.

Widespread rainfall may be affecting normal life in Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, and several other parts of the state. Pachhad in Sirmaur district recorded the highest rainfall of 207 millimetres since last night.

Heavy rainfall has led to a rise in the water levels of rivers and streams, prompting the administration to advise people to remain cautious and avoid venturing near water bodies.

As a precautionary measure, all educational institutions in Sirmaur and Solan districts have been closed today. Continuous rainfall has also triggered landslides in different parts of the state, while power and drinking water supply have been disrupted at several places.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast that adverse weather conditions are likely to persist across the state for the next one week.
