In Jammu and Kashmir, the police today said that one terrorist has been killed in an encounter with security forces in the Chanapora area of Shopian.
Police said that the operation was conducted jointly with the Army and the CRPF.
Talking to Akashvani News, Inspector General of Police, V K Birdi, said that a body has been found with arms and ammunition at the spot and the identity is being ascertained.
“One Lashkar terrorist neutralised by SOG Shopian, in a Jt Op, along with RR and CRPF,” it added.
The encounter comes after armed forces launched a combing operation in Shopian to track down two local terrorists of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba which is led by India’s most wanted Hafiz Saeed.
