In new daily high 1.68 lakh COVID-19 cases recorded in India in 24 hours

India recorded 1,68,912 new Covid in the last 24 hours, the sixth record rise in seven days, pushing the country’s caseload to over 1.35 crore. The resurgence of the virus led to 904 new deaths, taking the total death count to 1,70,179.

Maharashtra reported highest single day jump in Covid-19 cases, breaching the 60,000 mark yesterday. The state reported 63,294 cases, taking the total tally to 34 lakh 7 thousand 245. With 349 more deaths, the death toll has risen to 57,987. Mumbai reported nearly 10 thousand cases. According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) 9,989 fresh cases of Covid were reported. 58 patients succumbed to the infection in last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, an appropriate decision regarding imposing a lockdown in Maharashtra will be taken after April 14, state Health Minister Rajesh Tope said. He was speaking to reporters after a virtual meeting of the COVID-19 task force chaired by chief minister Uddhav Thackeray.

In Maharashtra more than 5 lakh 65 thousand patients are getting treatment from Covid 19. Pune has more than 1 lakh active cases. In Mumbai more around 91 thousand and in thane more than 74 thousand patients are under treatment for infection of coronavirus. Nagpur has 58 thousand 500 active cases. Approximately 32 lakh citizens in the state are in quarantine.

Yesterday 63 thousand 294 new patients tested positive for coronavirus. On the other hand more than 34 thousand were discharged. With 349 fatalities registered on yesterday, state’s fatality rate has reached 1.7% and total fatalities are close to 58 thousand. Yesterday, about 20 thousand new patients tested positive in mumbai and the surrounding area.

Approximately 9 thousand 300 patients tested positive in Pune city and nearby areas. Nagpur has registered more than 4 thousand cases. Meanwhile, In the last 2 days, Mumbai has received around 2 lakh 34 thousand doses of COVID-19 vaccine. Due to which BMC decided to start 62 out 71 private vaccination centers from today. Vaccination in private centers was halted from Saturday.
