Govt took brave decisions to monetise unused and under-used elements to revive economy: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the first Audit Diwas at the CAG premises in New Delhi on Tuesday said that the government took brave decisions of monetising unused and under-used elements as a result of which the country’s economy was picking up speed and was being lauded across the world.

The Prime Minister said, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) is a key part of the country’s development and plays an important role in productivity and efficiency. The Prime Minister said that most institutions lose their relevance after some decades, but the CAG is a heritage institutions and every generation should cherish it.

Stressing on reform and transparency in the system, he said, today work is being done to reduce interference of the government by following Minimum Government Maximum Governance. The Prime Minister also unveiled a statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the CAG office.
