The Samajwadi Party announced another list of 24 candidates for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections on Monday. Party has pitted Subhawati Shukla, widow of former BJP leader Upendra Dutt Shukla from Gorakhpur city assembly seat against CM Yogi Adityanath. Upendra Dutt Shukla had fought by-election of Gorakhpur parliamentary seat in 2018, which was vacant after the resignation of Yogi Adityanath when he became Chief Minister of the state.
Meanwhile, the Congress party on Monday released names of its 28 candidates for assembly elections. 10 women candidates are included in this list. Ashish Shukla will be party nominee from Amethi. Yogesh Yadav is pitted against Raghuraj Pratap Singh from Kunda seat. The Party has replaced candidates on Mankapur and Gaura seats. Ms Santosh Kumari will be party candidate from Manakapur in place of Ms Kamala Sisodiya. Similarly, Ram Pratap Singh will contest from Gaura in place of Satendra Dubey.
