Polling begins for final phase of Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh

Polling has begun for fourth and final phase of Panchayat elections in Uttar Pradesh.

The polling, which began at 7 am this morning, will end 6 pm. More than 2 crore 98 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise in 17 districts.

The State Election Commission has issued orders for strict compliance of COVID-19 protocol during the polling. Voters will have to put up mask and maintain social distancing. Instructions have also been issued to make circles at a distance of six-feet at the polling centres.

The counting of votes will be taken up on May 2.
