One terrorist was killed in an encounter with security forces at Khrew area of Pampore in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Thursday morning.
The encounter broke out after a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a Cordon and Search Operation based on intelligence input about the presence of terrorists in the area.
As the security forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight which resulted in the killing of the terrorist.
The identity of the slain terrorist is being ascertained.
The operation was still underway when the reports last came in.
