No Relief To Hemant Soren, Judicial Custody Extends By 14 Days.

In Jharkhand, the Ranchi Special PMLA Court today extended the judicial custody of jailed former Chief Minister Hemant Soren by 14 days. Soren is lodged in Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi on charges of money laundering through a land scam. Mr Soren, along with 11 other accused persons, was produced before the special court via video conferencing. The next court appearance for all the accused is scheduled for July 11.

Former cm hemant Soren appeared in court through video conferencing on thursday (May 30) in the land scam case. Revenue Sub Inspector bhanu Pratap, who is in jail in the same case, and the mastermind of preparing fake documents, Mohd. Saddam, also appeared online in the court. And after this the judicial custody period was extended for 14 days.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested hemant Soren in this case on january 31 this year after about 8 hours of interrogation. A total of 11 people have been arrested in this case so far.Hearing on regular bail petition in high court on june 10In this case, hemant Soren has filed a petition for regular bail in the jharkhand high court, which will be heard on june 10. On last Tuesday, the vacation bench of Justice Rangan Mukhopadhyay heard the case.

But, he could not get any immediate relief. At the same time, ED has sought time to file a reply and present its side in this case. The court has asked the investigating agency to file a reply through an affidavit before june 10. Earlier in this case, the Special PMLA court of ranchi rejected hemant Soren’s bail plea on May 13. Soren had also filed a petition in the supreme court challenging the ED’s action and arrest. On May 21-22, the vacation bench of the supreme court expressed displeasure while hearing the petition.
