Maharashtra to conduct surveys in 36 More Talukas to Assess Drought Conditions.

The Maharashtra government has decided to conduct surveys in 36 more talukas that have not yet been declared drought-affected to assess the ground situation.

The government today issued an order for 20 per cent ground-truthing, involving field verification, in 18 of these talukas. Based on the findings of the surveys, the government will consider including these talukas in the list of drought-affected areas.

In a separate initiative to provide relief to farmers who have been deprived of crop loan waiver benefits due to incomplete e-KYC, the government will prepare village-wise lists of eligible beneficiaries.

Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said talathis and gram sevaks would visit farmers’ homes to complete the e-KYC process.

The initiative aims to ensure that farmers whose crop loan waiver applications have been approved receive the benefits.
