The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has busted an inter-state drug network and seized more than 4.7 kilograms of methamphetamine valued at more than 9 crore rupees in Mumbai and Greater Noida.
According to officials, three persons, including two foreign nationals, have been arrested in connection with the operation.
Acting on a tip-off, the Kalachowki unit of ATS intercepted a suspect near a hotel in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on Tuesday and recovered 2.050 kilograms of methamphetamine worth around 4 crore rupees.
His interrogation led the ATS to a suspected drug manufacturing unit in Greater Noida, where two foreign national women were apprehended and another 2.688 kilograms of methamphetamine valued at around 5.40 crore rupees was seized. Materials allegedly used for manufacturing the synthetic drug were also recovered and the premises was sealed.
All three accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway to trace the wider supply and manufacturing network.
