IMD says, fresh western disturbance likely to affect Northwest India during next two days; Snowfall in upper reaches of Himachal Pradesh increase cold wave.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) said a fresh western disturbance seen as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies is likely to affect Northwest India during the next two days.

IMD has forecast light to moderate widespread rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunderstorm, gusty winds and hailstorms at isolated places over North India including Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand till Monday.

As per the weather agency, light to moderate widespread rainfall is also likely over West Bengal and the Northeast India till Tuesday. IMD also said that isolated heavy rainfall and snowfall is likely over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand tomorrow. It said that strong surface winds are very likely over Northwest India tomorrow.

On the cold weather, IMD said that dense fog conditions are very likely to prevail in the morning hours in Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till the next two days. Cold day condition in Himachal Pradesh is likely to persist till tomorrow. As per IMD, lowest minimum temperature of 5.4 degree celcius reported at Karnal, Haryana today.
