IMD Hyderabad has issued a heavy rain alert accompanied by lightning for five days until Tuesday.
It said that the reason on Saturday was due to the thunderstorm activity and formation of cumulonimbus clouds over the state and that a low pressure area of developing in the Bay of Bengal.
The city recorded 44.5mm rain till 10 pm last night. Highest rainfall was recorded at Uppal at 153mm.
