Notwithstanding Delhi’s 2,199 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, taking the city’s total to 87,360, the city’s recovery rate improved considerably to 66.8 percent against the national recovery rate of 59.06 percent with 58,348 people recovering from the virus in the national capital.
However at least 62 deaths were reported on Tuesday, taking the toll to 2,742. Experts are saying that the predominant reason for Delhi’s high Covid figure is the increase in testing. For the same day, authorities performed 9,585 RT-PCR tests and 7,594 rapid anti-gen tests. Delhi is testing 27,986 people per million population.
Meanwhile, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has ruled out the possibility of another round of lockdown and said that with Unlock 2.0 that started today, more parts of the city are likely to reopen.
