Delhi Police has arrested two sharpshooters of Lawrence Bishnoi gang after an encounter in the Burari area of North Delhi today.
In a statement, the Delhi Police informed that the accused were wanted in firing and extortion cases registered in Outer and East Delhi. The statement added that two automatic pistols, live cartridges, a stolen scooty and mobile phones were recovered from the accused.
During interrogation, the accused disclosed their links with sides of the notorious gang operating from abroad and their involvement in two recent firing incidents for extortion in the areas of Paschim Vihar East and Madhu Vihar. The Delhi Police said that further investigation is in progress.
According to officials, the anti-narcotics team of North Delhi received information that the suspects would arrive near Hiranki Mor. “A trap was laid in the area. When the police attempted to intercept them, the suspects opened fire, prompting retaliation by the police team,” said the source.
One accused was injured in the retaliatory firing and was taken to a nearby hospital, while his associate was apprehended on the spot, police said, adding that two pistols and live cartridges were seized from them.
