CEC to meet political representatives in Chennai to review poll preparedness

The full election commission will review the poll preparedness of Tamilnadu assembly elections in Chennai today. Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora and election Commissioners Sushil Chandra , Rajiv Kumar and Secretary General Umesh Sinha, are scheduled for a two-day visit beginning today.

Election Commission officials will meet the representatives of political parties, Police officials and district electoral officials and District Superintendents of police today to review the on-going preparations. According to the Chief electoral officer Satyabrata Sahoo, due to Covid 19 restrictions, the number of polling booths will be increased and other arrangements for the poll will be discussed.

Already the Commission has notified returning and assistant returning officers for the election last month. The delegation also had a virtual meeting with district election officers and police officials last december. Tomorrow the election officials will be meeting with the Chief Secretary and Secretaries of other departments and senior officials after which there will be a press conference on the highlights of the review meetings. The team will then leave by chopper for Puducherry.
