Assam Flood situation improves further

The flood situation in Assam has shown signs of improvement in several districts, as a result of which the number of people affected by the deluge has come down from 10,62,764 to 8,54,235.

Even though the situation is improving, the Brahmaputra in Jorhat, Sonitpur and Dhubri, Dhansiri in Golaghat, Jia Bharali in Sonitpur, Kopili in Nagaon, Beki in Barpeta and Sankosh in Dhubri districts continue to flow above the danger level, as per the update by the Central Water Commission on Sunday.

The daily flood bulletin of the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) stated that 1,087 villages under 49 revenue circles continue to reel under the deluge in 19 districts.

Altogether, 18 camps in Kaziranga National Park are still submerged under the floodwaters.
