44 Naxals surrender in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh

Forty-four naxals including nine women cadres surrendered in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, yesterday. They were active in Chintalnar, Kistaram, and Bheji areas of the district. Sukma SP Sunil Sharma said, the Naxals surrendered before the police at the newly-set up police camp in Karigundam village.

One of the surrendered Naxals – Madkam Dula was carrying a reward of 2 lakh rupees on his head. The surrendered cadres said they are disappointed with the hollow Maoist ideology and impressed by the district police’s rehabilitation drive for Naxals, called ‘Puna Narkom’. Puna Narkom, a Gondi word, means a new dawn.

The surrendered Naxals will be provided with facilities as per the Surrender and Rehabilitation Policy of the Chhattisgarh government.
