A two-day Mahabodhi Mahotsav is being held today at the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Great Stupa at Sanchi in Madhya Pradesh.
Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju will inaugurate the festival organized at Jambudweep Park this evening.
Mr. Rijiju will participate in the worship of the relics of Lord Buddha’s two chief disciples Sariputra and Maudgalyayana at Sanchi tomorrow.
Organised under the joint aegis of the Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka (Sanchi Centre) and the Government of Madhya Pradesh, the festival marks the anniversary of Chetiyagiri Vihar, celebrated each year with an enchanting blend of culture, music, and spirituality.
