In the sixth match of the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6 runs at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Shahbaz Nadeem and Harshal Patel’s brilliance took RCB past SRH in a topsy-turvy thriller which they won by six runs SRH, who were well placed at 77/1 at the end of 10 overs failed to get going when it mattered the most.
Shahbaz Nadeem and Harshal Patel’s brilliance in the death overs made a huge difference as SRH failed to score run-a-ball in the last five overs in the game. For RCB, Ahmed bowled a spectacular 17th over in which he claimed the wickets of Jonny Bairstow, Manish Pandey and Abdul Samad to break SRH’s backbone. After that, the batting side never recovered and succumbed to a six-run defeat in their chase of 150 runs.
Put into bat first, RCB scored 149 for the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs with help of Glenn Maxwell’s 59 runs off 41 balls and Virat Kohli’s 33 off 29. For SRH, Jason Holder took three wickets while Rashid Khan got two wickets.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and elected to field. Today Rajasthan Royals will take on Delhi Capitals at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Match will start at 7.30 PM.
