Rajat Patidar shines as RCB knock out LSG to set up Qualifier 2 clash vs RR

Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 14 runs in the IPL 2022 Eliminator at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. RCB will now take on Rajasthan Royals for a place in the final. Chasing a target of 208, LSG were restricted to 193 for six in 20 overs.

Earlier, Rajat Patidar smashed his maiden century as RCB posted a total of 207 for four against LSG. Patidar smashed an unbeaten 112 off just 54 balls, reaching triple figures in 49 balls, and registered the fastest ton of the ongoing IPL season.

He and Dinesh Karthik (37 not out) added an unbeaten 92 for the fifth wicket as RCB scored 84 runs off the last five overs. Earlier, Patidar and Kohli had added 66 runs for the second wicket after Faf du Plessis was dismissed in the first over. Earlier, LSG had won the toss and elected to bowl.

In reply, KL Rahul’s 78 off 59 balls didn’t make much of an impact save beefing his individual run-tally as LSG finished on 193 for 6 after 20 overs.

RCB will meet Rajasthan Royals in the second Qualifier on Friday, which will decide Gujarat Titans’ opposition for Sunday’s final
