Indian women’s cricket team thrash South Africa by 9 wickets to level series by 1-1

Indian Women’s cricket team registered a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over South Africa in the second ODI in Lucknow to level the five-match series at 1-1. Chasing the victory target of 158 runs set by South Africa, Indian team easily scored 160 for one in just 28.4 overs. Smriti Mandhana scored a blistering half-century.

The left-handed batswoman also became the first-ever cricketer, male or female, to smash 10 consecutive scores of 50 or more in ODIs during the run chases. Smriti was not out at 80 off just 64 balls while Punam Raut scored 62 not out off 89 balls.

Earlier, India skipper Mithali Raj won the toss and elected to field. South Africa were all out at 157 runs in 41 overs. For India, Jhulan Goswami claimed 4 wickets, Rajeshwari Gayakwad bagged three and Mansi Joshi got two wickets.

The third ODI will be played on March 12 in Lucknow.
