England win Chennai test by 227 runs, leads 4 match series 1-0 against India

England has won the Chennai test by 227 runs. Chasing 420 runs to win, India were all out at 192 in the second innings.

India resumed at 39 for 1 on day 5. Cheteshwar Pujara was the first wicket to fall today.

Leach sent him back at 15. Shubhman Gill fell soon after scoring another fifty.

Anderson removed Rahane in the same over without even opening his account.

Rishabh Pant also fell to Anderson after scoring 11.

Skipper Virat Kohli and R Ashwin added 54 runs for the 7th wicket.

Leach broke the partnership by removing Ashwin. Virat Kohli was bowled at 72 by Stokes.

Indian innings soon folded at 192 in 58.1 overs. Jack Leach picked 4 wickets while James Anderson took 3.

Joe Root has now drawn level with Michael Vaughan as England’s most successful Test captain.

England has sealed their sixth consecutive win in Asia.
